At the latest at spring, when the last snow remains melt, the summer season in the mountains is at start. The skis are stored into the cellars and the hiking boots are retrieved. The Arlberg region and the nature reserve Lechtal offer best conditions for small or extensive hiking tours. The best thing: you don’t have to drive. Just head out of the apartment, step outdoors and get right into nature.
he Lechweg trail provides you with an extraordinary experience of nature and is characterised by its surrounding rivers with one of the most naturally preserved stream flows in Europe. Hiking along the Lechweg, which comprises 125 km in length (certified long-distance trail), allows you to see many highlights of fauna, flora, architecture and hospitality ranging from the largest ibex colony in Europe and the biggest amount of growing lady’s-slipper orchid to astonishing suspension bridges.
You will be hiking across 5 regions and 2 countries, starting at the “Formarinsee” lake, crossing the “Tiroler Lech” nature park and the royal castles in Füssen in the Allgäu region and eventually the Lechweg will take you to the “Lechfall” waterfall in Füssen. Enjoy nature in all its uniqueness!

Well-known and favoured destinations are the ‚Biberkopf‘, next to the Southest point of Germany and the ‚Kleinwalsertal‘, which is popular for exploring by mountain bike. Yet, the nature reserve has far more to offer. Here you will find the last torrential stream landscape of the Northern alps. The light-blue and turquois sparkling water that flows through the valley enchant worn minds with its piece and quiet. Despite, you can also go exploring off the water. A manifold wildlife with rare species, as for example, the natterjack toad and the red-backed shrike apart from the equally manifold flora and fauna with the ladies slipper orchid and the German tamarisk can be discovered.
The nature reserve Lech is a retreat, which enables to calm and refresh your minds and recharge your batteries. At the latest when the sun sets behind the mountains and a starlit sky enfolds the mystic power of this scenery is perceptible.
